‘TWAS THE STORYBOOK ROMANCE…

The following poem was written by Pastor Cameron for our study in Hosea 2. You can see the video of this poem on our YouTube channel.

‘Twas the storybook romance….

‘Twas love at first sight!

They embraced in the day,

they danced in the night.

‘Twas a match made in Heaven,

they made the perfect pair!

God and mankind…

…eternal love they would share!

But then came another, with charm and deceit.

He wooed and seduced her, “Let’s meet! Be discreet!”

She fell for his evil, entrapped in her lust.

She began the affair, and her marriage went bust.

Her Husband’s heart broke, ’twas shattered and cut.

But He never lost hope, His door never shut.

He reached out his hand, to bring her back in.

But each time He did, she’d run off with more men.

They took her, abused her,

they beat her, misused her.

But again and again,

her sin would not end.

‘Till the day finally came, when she was so far in debt.

She felt nothing but shame, fear, doubt, pain, regret.

They forced her away, they made her their slave.

She knew this was it, she’d dug her own grave.

And as she grew older, in chains and alone;

she remembered her first love, and the love He had shown.

But hopeless she was, and unable to act.

For she could do nothing, and that was a fact.

But that’s when it happened, int he darkest of nights;

when her Lover walked in, and He turned on the lights.

He came and sat down,

as she was chained to the bed;

and with His arms wrapped around,

Here’s what He said:

“I have loved you forever, even when you were lost.

And now you’ll be Mine, I have paid the full clost.

Now I am bringing you home, where you will finally be free.

I will love you forever, so, please come dwell with Me.”

And with tears in her eyes and delight in her heart,

she went with her Husband and began a fresh start.

She remained with Him always, ’til the end of her days.

And he never once brought up all her old sinful ways.

This is the story that our Lover has written;

About His love for mankind, and how her heart was smitten.
